OpenAI's Cheaper ChatGPT Go Plan, GPT-5 Launch Rumored

OpenAI, the developer behind ChatGPT, is reportedly exploring the introduction of a new, more affordable subscription tier named “Go.” This potential new plan would be priced lower than the existing ChatGPT Plus subscription, which currently costs $20 per month (approximately Rs 1,750).

The speculation stems from a post on X (formerly Twitter) by tipster Tibor Blaho, who shared a screenshot purportedly showing code from the ChatGPT web application that references the “ChatGPT Go” plan. While specific details regarding the features of this rumored plan are scarce, it is anticipated to offer access to some of OpenAI’s more recent models, potentially including those internally designated as “o3” and “o4-mini-high.” However, it is also expected to omit advanced functionalities like “agents” or access to the company’s text-to-video model, Sora.

Currently, OpenAI offers two main paid tiers: ChatGPT Plus, aimed at general users seeking access to the latest features, and ChatGPT Pro, which is priced at $200 per month and designed for developers requiring unlimited access to the full suite of ChatGPT tools. The “Go” plan would presumably sit below the Plus tier, making advanced AI capabilities more accessible to a broader user base.

This potential new offering comes as OpenAI continues to prepare for the unveiling of GPT-5, its next-generation large language model. GPT-5 is expected to introduce enhanced multimodal capabilities and deeper integration with other OpenAI products, such as Sora and Canvas. The launch of GPT-5 has faced multiple delays, reportedly due to the company’s focus on ensuring safety.

It is rumored that the “ChatGPT Go” plan could be officially announced concurrently with the launch of GPT-5. In addition to these major developments, OpenAI also appears to be rolling out minor new features for the web version of ChatGPT, including a “Favourites” section and a “Pin chat” option, though these updates are currently limited to a subset of users.

As with all unconfirmed reports, this information should be viewed with caution, as OpenAI may choose to alter or scrap the “Go” plan before any official announcement.
