Destinus Buys AI Aviation Firm Daedalean for $223 Million
Swiss drone startup Destinus has announced its intention to acquire Zurich-based Daedalean, a company specializing in AI-powered autopilot systems for aviation, in a deal valued at 180 million Swiss francs ($223 million). The acquisition will involve a combination of cash and stock.
The strategic move, disclosed by both companies in a joint statement on Tuesday, is expected to significantly enhance Destinus's artificial intelligence capabilities. Destinus, known for its work in developing advanced aerial vehicles and its role in supplying drones to Ukraine, aims to leverage Daedalean's expertise as it continues to develop its portfolio of strike drones and hypersonic aircraft.
Daedalean, headquartered in Zurich, has established itself as a developer of sophisticated autonomous navigation and control systems, critical components for the future of aviation.
The transaction is anticipated to be finalized by the end of the current year.
