Robert Keele, the top legal counsel for Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence venture xAI, has resigned from his position, citing a profound need to prioritize his family. Keele, who joined the burgeoning AI firm in May 2024, explicitly stated his departure was driven by the desire to spend more time with his two young children, expressing, “I love my two toddlers and I don’t get to see them enough.” While describing his tenure with Elon Musk as “the adventure of a lifetime,” he acknowledged the unsustainable nature of “riding two horses at once — the family and the job,” ultimately choosing the former.
Keele’s arrival at xAI in May 2024 coincided with a pivotal period for the company, just ahead of its successful $6 billion Series B funding round, which valued the firm at $24 billion.
