Anthropic’s Claude Code Arms Developers With Always-On AI Security Reviews

Anthropic’s Claude Code, an agentic coding tool designed to operate within a developer’s terminal, now features a specialized /security-review
command and an integrated GitHub Action for automated pull request reviews. Developers can invoke the /security-review
command directly from their terminal for an immediate, ad-hoc analysis of their code before committing changes. This real-time scan proactively identifies common security flaws, including SQL injection risks, cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities, authentication and authorization issues, insecure data handling practices, and dependency vulnerabilities. Beyond merely flagging problems, Claude Code is engineered to provide detailed explanations of identified issues and, crucially, suggest and even implement fixes, streamlining the remediation process.
The integrated GitHub Action further solidifies this “shift-left” security approach, automatically reviewing every new pull request for vulnerabilities.
