Google’s AI chatbot, Gemini Live, is significantly enhancing its capabilities by integrating directly with several of the tech giant’s core applications, including Google Keep, Tasks, Calendar, and Maps. This highly anticipated update allows users to seamlessly access and interact with their personal information stored within these services during real-time conversations with the AI.

Launched last year, Gemini Live was designed to facilitate natural, free-flowing dialogue with Google’s AI. Its initial features enabled users to engage in back-and-forth conversations, share their screen, brainstorm ideas, and even glean information about their surroundings using their phone’s camera. However, a notable omission was its inability to connect with other essential Google services, limiting its practical utility for personal organization and navigation.

The new functionality, first observed by 9to5Google, addresses this gap by enabling Gemini Live to tap into users’ data across these key platforms. When Gemini Live interacts with these services, a small circular loading indicator, appearing as a “chip” just above the full-screen controls, signals the connection. Users can prompt Gemini Live directly, for instance, by asking it to “check my events for today,” or by using more general commands like “Do I have any reminders?” This integration also extends to scenarios where users are sharing their screen with Gemini, allowing for contextual assistance.

The practical applications of this integration are diverse and user-friendly. For Google Calendar, Gemini Live can now retrieve your daily schedule or create new events based on voice commands. Users can even point their camera at details like a date and time, and the AI chatbot can intelligently add them to their calendar. Similarly, for Google Maps, Gemini Live can provide guidance to a specific location. While it doesn’t automatically initiate navigation, it generates a convenient link that, when tapped, begins the route guidance. When it comes to Google Tasks and Keep, Gemini Live can display your saved lists and allow you to add new notes directly.

This expanded functionality is now being rolled out across both the Android and iOS versions of the Gemini app, making these advanced features accessible to a broad user base. Crucially, the integration with Google’s first-party applications is available to all Gemini users, regardless of whether they are on a free or paid tier, democratizing access to this more deeply integrated AI experience. This development marks a significant step towards making AI chatbots not just conversational partners, but truly indispensable personal assistants embedded within our daily digital lives.
