The Asia-Pacific Legal Innovation and Technology Association (ALITA) has launched a significant initiative to gather crucial insights into the evolving landscape of legal technology and artificial intelligence across the region. The organization is inviting professionals to participate in two distinct surveys designed to deepen understanding of how these technologies are being adopted and to map out the key players driving innovation in the legal sector. The findings from both surveys will culminate in a comprehensive report, slated for unveiling at TechLawFest 2025 in Singapore on September 10.

In collaboration with LexisNexis, ALITA’s primary survey, the “APAC Legaltech & AI Survey,” seeks to capture a detailed picture of current AI and legal technology usage among a broad spectrum of legal professionals. This includes those in private practice, barristers’ chambers, and corporate legal departments throughout the Asia-Pacific region. The survey delves into how these professionals are currently leveraging AI, their perceptions and attitudes towards its integration into their daily work, and the broader impact of AI on the legal profession as a whole. To ensure a diverse and representative dataset, ALITA is actively encouraging submissions from individuals at all levels and across various practice groups within firms and companies from at least eight key jurisdictions, including Singapore, Hong Kong SAR, Australia, New Zealand, China, South Korea, Malaysia, and Japan. All submissions are treated as personal and anonymous, ensuring candid feedback. As an incentive, the Singapore Academy of Law is offering a complimentary two-day conference pass to TechLawFest in Singapore for each party completing the survey, providing an opportunity to attend the launch of the ALITA SOLIA Report 2025.

Complementing this, ALITA is also developing a “Legal Innovation & Technology Ecosystem Map” for the Asia-Pacific region. This second initiative aims to create a living directory that will help users, such as law firms and corporate legal teams, easily identify and recognize organizations that are actively providing innovative legal technology products and services across different jurisdictions. Notably, this includes law firms themselves, many of whom are increasingly augmenting their traditional advisory services with new, tech-driven offerings. Organizations with multiple product or service brands targeting different markets are encouraged to make separate submissions for each. Participation in the Ecosystem Map is free, inviting all relevant organizations, including those law firms providing legal innovation and technology services, to contribute their details and logos. This map will also form a vital component of the forthcoming ALITA SOLIA Report 2025.

The data collected from these surveys will be meticulously compiled and analyzed, providing invaluable insights into the state of legal innovation and technology adoption across the Asia-Pacific. Both surveys have an submission deadline of August 15. The insights gathered are expected to offer a critical benchmark for the industry, helping to guide future development and adoption strategies in the rapidly evolving legal tech space.
