NetBox Labs Secures $35M Series B Amid AI Infrastructure Boom

Businessinsider

NetBox Labs, a pivotal player in modern infrastructure management, has successfully closed a $35 million Series B funding round, capitalizing on the unprecedented boom in AI-driven infrastructure. The investment, led by NGP Capital, underscores the critical need for sophisticated tools to manage the increasingly complex networks and data centers powering the artificial intelligence revolution. This latest funding brings NetBox Labs’ total raised to $55 million, following a $20 million Series A round in 2023.

At the core of NetBox Labs’ offering is NetBox, an open-source platform that serves as a “source of truth” for network and infrastructure data. This platform allows organizations to centralize network documentation, model intended network states, and automate complex infrastructure deployments and operations. In an era where manual spreadsheets and fragmented tools fall short, NetBox provides a cohesive, API-first hub that drives reliable network changes and helps prevent configuration drift.

The timing of this investment is particularly significant given the explosive growth in AI infrastructure. Companies are pouring vast sums into building and expanding data centers equipped with powerful GPUs and high-density computing capabilities to train and run large language models and other AI applications. Industry forecasts project trillions of dollars in AI infrastructure spending over the next decade, with major cloud providers like Microsoft, Amazon, Google, and Meta investing tens of billions annually to meet the insatiable demand for AI compute.

NetBox Labs is positioned to be a foundational component in this rapidly expanding ecosystem. Its technology is instrumental for companies like CoreWeave, a prominent AI data center giant and a key client of NetBox Labs. CoreWeave, which operates 33 GPU-based AI data centers across the U.S. and Europe and is investing billions in further expansion, relies on NetBox to accelerate the buildout and automation of its intricate infrastructure. Jim Julson, CoreWeave’s head of networks, emphasized that NetBox is crucial for deploying their infrastructure faster, directly impacting their revenue by enabling streamlined operations once infrastructure is in production.

NGP Capital, the lead investor, is a global venture capital firm with a strategic focus on growth-stage technology companies in areas such as Edge Cloud, Cybersecurity, Digital Industry, and Digital Transformation. Their investment in NetBox Labs aligns with their broader vision of supporting innovations that are critical for the evolving digital landscape, particularly those relevant to the 5G era and beyond.

With the new capital, NetBox Labs plans to accelerate its pace of innovation, scaling its product, engineering, customer success, marketing, and sales teams to meet global market demand. The company is also developing an “agentic AI operations platform” called NetBox Operator, further integrating AI capabilities into infrastructure management. This expansion aims to solidify NetBox Labs’ role as the essential control plane for the next generation of AI-driven infrastructure, helping enterprises like JPMorgan Chase and government agencies manage their complex environments with greater efficiency and automation.
