Eight Sleep, a company at the forefront of sleep technology, has successfully secured $100 million in a new funding round. This significant investment is earmarked to accelerate its ambitious mission of transforming the conventional bed into an intelligent, health-optimizing device. The funding round saw participation from a diverse group of investors, including venture capital firms HSG, Valor Equity Partners, Atreides, Founders Fund, and Y Combinator, alongside notable figures from the motorsports world, such as Ferrari F1 driver Charles Leclerc and McLaren F1 CEO Zak Brown.

This latest capital infusion arrives as Eight Sleep marks substantial growth, having surpassed $500 million in sales of its flagship Pod product and achieving a tenfold increase in revenue since its initial launch. The company has rapidly expanded its global footprint, now serving customers in over 30 countries and having meticulously tracked more than one billion hours of sleep data. These milestones underscore a growing consumer demand for sleep technology rooted in scientific principles.

The burgeoning interest in sleep technology reflects a broader societal shift towards prioritizing rest and recovery. Eight Sleep positions itself uniquely at the convergence of artificial intelligence, hardware, software, and wellness supplements, advocating what it describes as a comprehensive, full-stack approach to optimizing sleep. Matteo Franceschetti, Co-Founder and CEO, emphasized this integrated strategy, stating that Eight Sleep has developed "a turn-key solution for sleep and health optimization: hardware, software, AI, and consumer goods that dynamically adjust around each person’s needs.”

A central focus for the new funding will be the development of the “Sleep Agent,” an advanced AI-driven system. This innovative technology is designed to interpret a user’s biometric data, simulate thousands of virtual replicas (or “digital twins”) of their sleep physiology, and then make real-time, nightly adjustments to enhance recovery. Unlike passive sleep trackers that merely collect data, the Sleep Agent employs predictive modeling to anticipate how an individual’s body will respond to various environmental and behavioral changes, subsequently acting in real time. This proactive approach includes dynamic adjustments to bed temperature, elevation, and even tailored bedtime routines. Franceschetti elaborated on this groundbreaking capability, noting, “We’re creating digital twins of your sleep physiology to simulate, test, and personalize your recovery before you even close your eyes. This is the next frontier: AI that doesn’t just track you, it understands and adapts to you in real time.” The Sleep Agent builds upon the company’s existing Autopilot feature, which already performs millions of subtle adjustments each night based on user behavior and biofeedback.

Beyond enhancing its core product, Eight Sleep is leveraging the new capital to venture into the medical sector. The company plans to introduce AI-powered solutions specifically targeting menopausal sleep issues and sleep apnea. Its Pod system already boasts up to 99% accuracy in tracking cardiovascular and respiratory patterns, and Eight Sleep is actively pursuing FDA approval for select medical applications. A recently launched “Hot Flash Mode” utilizes dynamic cooling to alleviate discomfort associated with menopause. Future products will focus on sleep apnea, with interventions enabled by the Pod’s contactless biometric monitoring and real-time adjustment capabilities.

In parallel with its technological and medical advancements, Eight Sleep is intensifying its global expansion efforts. Having already established a presence in markets such as Canada, the UK, EU, Australia, Mexico, and the UAE, the company now sets its sights on entering China, a strategic move aimed at solidifying its international footprint in the sleep technology landscape.

Founded in 2014, Eight Sleep has pioneered the concept of “sleep fitness,” integrating physiology, technology, and data into its core offering. The company has garnered recognition from publications like Fast Company and TIME for its innovations and counts elite athletes, including F1 driver Charles Leclerc and American tennis pro Taylor Fritz, among its user base. Under the leadership of CEO and Co-Founder Matteo Franceschetti, Eight Sleep continues to expand its leadership and advisory teams as it broadens its reach into healthcare applications, demonstrating a strong trajectory from startup to a significant player in the sleep tech industry. The company’s blend of technology, wellness, and sports appeal has attracted a diverse group of high-profile supporters, extending beyond traditional venture capital.
