Bosch & VW Partner for AI-Powered Automated Driving
In a significant stride towards the future of automotive technology, German industrial giant Bosch and Volkswagen Group’s software subsidiary, Cariad, are intensifying their collaboration to accelerate the development of automated driving systems, fundamentally reshaping the in-car experience with state-of-the-art artificial intelligence. This deepened partnership, operating under the established “Automated Driving Alliance,” is poised to bring advanced Level 2 and Level 3 capabilities to a vast consumer base, aiming for widespread accessibility rather than niche applications.
At the heart of this enhanced joint venture is the integration of cutting-edge AI methods designed to create driver assistance systems that mimic the intuitive, natural decision-making of a human driver. This advanced AI stack covers the full spectrum of cognitive tasks essential for automated driving: perception of the environment, intelligent interpretation of complex scenarios, swift decision-making, and precise execution of vehicle actions. Crucially, Bosch and Cariad are developing all components of this AI-based software stack independently, retaining full control over proprietary source code and intellectual property.
